These terms apply when you buy robot hardware, accessories or a service plan from Cory the Company Inc. through coryai.ca, including the robot store and Build your Cory, or on a written quote that refers to them. Checkout asks you to accept this version (2026-09-22) before you pay. Please read them with our Warranty, Delivery, Returns and Privacy pages, which form part of these terms.
01 Who is selling
Cory the Company Inc., operating as Cory AI, 18137 Cataract Rd, Alton, Ontario L7K 1P3, Canada ("Cory", "we", "us"). We are a Unitree distributor for North America. The robots we sell are manufactured by Hangzhou Yushu Technology Co., Ltd. (Unitree). Unitree and the model names are trademarks of their owner; Cory software and the Cory name are ours.
Our robots are sold for commercial, research and educational use. If you buy as a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
02 Orders and acceptance
An order placed on the site or on a signed quote is an offer to buy. We accept it when we confirm the configuration, the delivery address, taxes, duties and freight to you in writing (the order confirmation). Until then we may decline an order, for example where a product is no longer available, where we cannot serve the delivery address, where export or sanctions rules prevent the sale, or where we cannot verify the buyer or the payment.
If the order confirmation and the website differ, the order confirmation governs that order. Configurations are built to order with the manufacturer, so please check the confirmation carefully and tell us within two business days if anything is wrong.
03 Deposit, balance and payment
- Pay in full or pay a deposit. At checkout you may pay the full price, or the deposit at the percentage stated on the order page and at checkout. The order confirmation states the amounts.
- Balance before delivery. We invoice the balance, including taxes, duties and freight as applicable, once the unit is ready to ship. The balance is due before the unit ships and before any delivery date is booked. Payment is by card through Stripe or by bank transfer against our invoice.
- Deposit refund until allocation. Your deposit is refundable in full until the unit is allocated to your order. A unit is allocated when we place your configuration with the manufacturer, or assign a serial numbered unit from stock, and tell you so in writing. After allocation the deposit is non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund or where we cannot deliver (section 5).
- Unpaid balance. If the balance is not paid within 14 days of the due date on the invoice, we will write to you. If it remains unpaid 14 days after that notice we may cancel the order, release the unit to another buyer, and keep the deposit as a reasonable pre-estimate of our costs, unless the law says otherwise.
- Financing. Financing through a third party, such as Questor, is your own arrangement with that financier. Cory is not a party to it. If the financier pays us, we treat that payment as yours. Your obligations under these terms do not change because of a financing arrangement.
04 Prices, currency and taxes
Prices are shown in Canadian dollars for delivery in Canada and in US dollars for delivery in the United States. Where a product page shows a manufacturer's US dollar price with an approximate Canadian dollar figure, the amount and currency on your order confirmation are the ones that apply. Approximate conversions on the site are for reference only.
Prices exclude taxes, duties, brokerage and freight unless the order confirmation says they are included. For delivery in Canada we add HST, GST, PST or QST as the delivery province requires. For delivery in the United States, see section 6. We may correct an obvious pricing error before an order is confirmed, and we will tell you before we do.
Once confirmed, the price for that order holds, except for changes in duty, tax or freight imposed after confirmation that are outside our control. Those are passed through at cost and stated to you in writing before the balance is due.
05 Delivery windows
Every delivery date or window we give you is an estimate. Robots are built to order and shipped by freight, and timing depends on the manufacturer, carriers and customs. We do not publish delivery dates on the site; we confirm the current estimate in writing on your order and keep you informed when it changes. Delivery is scheduled only after the balance is received. Details are on the Delivery and Setup page.
A delay does not by itself entitle you to damages. If we cannot deliver within 60 days after the end of the last window we confirmed to you in writing, you may cancel that unit by written notice and we will refund everything you have paid for it, including the deposit. If the manufacturer discontinues a configuration, we will offer the closest replacement or a full refund, at your choice.
06 United States orders
Orders for delivery in the United States are exports from Canada. Unless your order confirmation says otherwise:
- You are the importer of record. We provide the customs paperwork described on the Delivery page (commercial invoice, packing list and the HS classification for the unit).
- Customs duties, brokerage fees and any US federal, state or local sales or use tax that is not collected at checkout are your responsibility, payable to the carrier, broker or tax authority as they fall due.
- Prices are in US dollars and exclude those amounts.
- You confirm that you will comply with US import rules and with any Canadian export requirements that apply to the shipment, and that you will not re-export the unit contrary to Canadian or US law.
07 Title, risk and ownership
Title to the hardware passes to you when we have received the full price for it, including any taxes, duties and freight we invoiced. Until then we keep title, you agree not to sell, pledge or encumber the unit, and you will keep it insured and identifiable as ours if it is delivered before the price is paid in full.
Risk of loss or damage passes to you on delivery, when the unit is handed to you, your representative, or left at the delivery address on your instructions. Damage that happens in transit before delivery is dealt with under the Delivery page.
Once paid in full, you own the robot. Cory does not supply robots on a per day or per month basis without a sale. Optional service plans (section 8) are services on a robot you own.
08 Software and service plans
The robot ships with the manufacturer's firmware and software, which you use under the manufacturer's licence terms supplied with the unit. Cory software (the Cory AI platform, Cory on the robot, and Robot as a Service) is licensed, not sold, and is provided only under an active service plan. Our Terms of Use govern the software; where they conflict with these terms on a hardware sale, these terms govern.
Service plans are billed monthly in advance, in Canadian dollars per robot or per location as shown on the pricing page, and continue month to month until cancelled. Robot as a Service covers monitoring, maintenance, software, updates, support and setup for the robot you own, as described on the pricing page and in your order confirmation. Cancellation terms are on the Returns and Cancellations page. Cory software and integration support during a plan are described on the Warranty and Support page.
09 Acceptable use and safety
A humanoid or legged robot is a powerful machine. You are the operator, and safe operation is your responsibility. You agree to:
- Read and follow the manufacturer's user manual, safety notices and operating limits supplied with the unit, and any safety guidance Cory gives you at setup, before operating the robot.
- Not operate the robot around people, including customers, staff, children and animals, until you have read that safety guidance and put it into practice: a trained operator present, a clear working area, and the manufacturer's remote or stop control within the operator's reach where the unit provides one.
- Provide a suitable site (flat, dry, clear of drop offs and obstacles), train your staff, supervise operation, and comply with workplace safety law that applies to you, such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) or its equivalent where you operate.
- Carry insurance appropriate to operating machinery on your premises and around the public.
- Not use the robot to carry, lift or support a person, on public roads, as or with a weapon, to injure or intimidate anyone, for surveillance contrary to law, or in any way that breaks the law or the manufacturer's terms.
- Not modify the hardware, firmware or safety functions, and not install software on the robot that Cory or the manufacturer did not provide or approve, without our written agreement. Unauthorized modification voids warranty coverage and support.
Cory software includes safety limits that we configure at setup. Do not disable or work around them. If you are unsure whether a use is safe, stop and ask us first.
10 Warranty
The hardware carries the manufacturer's limited warranty, which we pass through to you, and Cory supports its own software and integrations during an active service plan, as set out on the Warranty and Support page. Except as stated there and as the law requires, the hardware and software are provided without any other warranty or condition, express or implied, including any implied condition of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Consumer rights that cannot be excluded are not affected.
11 Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data or business opportunity, however caused.
- Cory's total liability arising from or connected with a hardware order is limited to the price you paid for that order. Cory's total liability arising from a service plan is limited to the plan fees you paid in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
- These limits do not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by a party's negligence, to fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, to wilful misconduct, or to any liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
You will indemnify Cory against third party claims, fines and costs that arise from your operation of the robot contrary to section 9 or to the law, except to the extent caused by Cory's own negligence or breach.
12 Cancellation and returns
Deposit refunds before allocation, the 14 day return for unopened hardware, and service plan cancellation are set out on the Returns and Cancellations page.
13 Export control and sanctions
Robots and their components may be subject to Canadian, US and other export control laws. You confirm that you are not a person or entity with whom Canadian or US law prohibits us from dealing, that the unit will be used at the delivery address you gave us, and that you will not export or re-export it contrary to law. We may cancel an order, with a full refund of what you paid, if a legal restriction prevents us from completing it.
14 Governing law and disputes
These terms and every order under them are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict of law rules, for all customers, including customers in the United States. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction, and each party submits to that jurisdiction, except that Cory may seek to recover unpaid amounts or its property in any court with authority over you or the unit.
If something goes wrong, talk to us first. Most problems are fixed quickly by email or a call. These terms are written in English; the parties agree that the English text governs. A French version is in preparation.
15 General
- Whole agreement. These terms, the order confirmation, and the Warranty, Delivery, Returns and Privacy pages in the version you accepted are the whole agreement for the order. Purchase order terms you send us do not apply unless we accept them in writing.
- Versions. Each version of these terms is dated. The version you accept at checkout, recorded with your order, is the one that applies to that order. We may publish a new version for future orders at any time.
- Force majeure. Neither party is responsible for delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including manufacturer production delays, carrier or customs delays, trade restrictions and natural events, but this does not excuse payment for goods delivered.
- Assignment. You may not assign an order without our written consent. We may assign our rights to payment.
- Severability and waiver. If a part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of it.
- Notices. Notices to you go to the email address on your order. Notices to us go to the address in section 16.
